Last weekend, 5 teams from Infobest participated in the Team’s Outdoor Race, which was set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Romanian Apuseni Mountains.

Mind you, the 6th edition of the race was not an easy one.

This year, a total of 60 teams representing different IT companies, have entered to the competition and have tried to conquer the mountain routes and face the challenges ahead.

Our “playground” this year spanned more than 20 kilometers across the mountains, 5 contest zones and trails that ranged from 600 to 900 meters in altitude.

All Infobest teams have managed to finish the race and gather thousands of points.

The Infobest “Kung Fu Pandas” Team has ranked 17th  on the leaderboards, with no less than 7395 points.

“ TOR 2016 was probably at its highest this year (long track, complex workshops, so having a good team, with members you can rely on, was crucial).

The better you know the team members, the easier it is to make a strategy. We knew how fit we were, so we decided to do a round trip and go through the whole track.

We have also decided to go hard this year and give our best: the one who can get more points at each workshop is the one who does it. If running on the track to save some precious time is required, we’ll go for it. Being there 100% for your partner tackling the workshop helps a lot: guidance and encouraging is always a plus.

And last but not least, it is always a hard decision whether to do or to skip the workshop, when there is a long waiting line in front of you. We have taken decisions together, because each of us brought value to the team.

If it is about games, we’d like to introduce you to Florin. When we talk about balance, it’s Denisa. Cosmin was a nice surprise this year: fit and ready for every challenge (congrats for the table climbing!).

I, for one, was ready to give 100%, even at 6 o’clock in the evening and I was always on the run. If any of us had a different opinion, we would stop and reconsider the options.

I believe that’s what a team is all about: listening to each other, taking decisions together and taking care of each other’s needs.” –according to Anda

The “Singing Squad” Team

“This experience was a great success for us, as a team. By recognizing our strengths and acknowledging our weaknesses, we have managed to make the most of it and gather as many points as possible. Now, we feel more homogenous as a team and the experience made us value teamwork more than we had before.” –according to Vlad

The “Marketing Ninjas” Team

“As a team, we’ve learned that we need to appreciate our qualities and accept our flaws, because only this way we can work together as a real team. Let people work on the things they know better than you and the team will succeed.” – according to Adriana

The “ZambiTorii” Team

“Team Outdoor Race is the perfect challenge for us, programmers. The format of the competition involves small teams of 4, with a designated leader involved in both team and personal challenges, prompting team work as well as leadership. It was a great opportunity for us to interact with workmates in a non-working environment, thus allowing us to connect personally, while learning about each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It was great practice for everyday interactions, where communication and the need for good choices and performance are crucial” – according to Adrian

The “Chipmunks” Team

“We started the competition with big dreams and the hope of a better result. Unfortunately, an injury set us back on the race but taught us a valuable lesson: together we can find the strength to continue the race for the sake of the team, no matter the ranking or the outcome. The desire to end the contest together, as a team, had much greater value than the thousands of points we could have earned.” – according to Andra

Sometimes we just need to step out of our comfort zone and TOR was the perfect place to do that. Congratulations!
